October 2012

For two weeks, Pih Poh and his crew spent time in Colombia, where they put on three concerts between Bogota and Medellin. This tour was organized for the first time, motivated by their recent participation at the Eurockéennes de Belfort (international music festival in Belfort) that is also linked to the French festival GéNéRiQ. This tour has been set up in collaboration with Cecom Music and with the support of the Institut Français and the French Embassy in Bogotá. The first concert of the tour was held in Bogota, at the Hip Hop Al Parque Festival where the crew performed in front of 60,000 people, sharing the stage with Keny Arkana, Dead Prez and an array of local Colombian hip hop artists. As usual when, this tour was not only an opportunity for Pih Poh to perform, but it also served to connect him with other artists from which new collaborations could form. Examples of these new previously unreleased collaborations include “Mafia Hip Hop” with Aerophon Crew from Bogota, and “Rebel Sound” with the group Alguacil.

Several studio sessions were organized in Bogota, mixing beats, lyrics and scratch in the ghettos, on the outskirts of the city, as well as within private schools for students learning French. A second, more intimate, concert took place at the Media Torta of Bogota, for the Grita festival with Aerophon Crew making a guest appearance to debut their previously unreleased collaboration. The second part of this musical journey unfurled in Medellin, with an appearance at the Circul’art festival, again in partnership with GéNéRiQ France. They had the chance to perform in the legendary Pablo Tobon Uribe Theater alongside the likes of Amadou and Miriam, Orelsan, Chapelier fou and Mina Tindle. This adventure in Colombia didn’t stop there for Pih Poh. Upon his return and in the goal of reviving this Franco-Colombian collaboration on French ground, Pih Poh put on four concerts in the east of France, in Besançon (at PDZ), Mulhouse, Dijon (at La Ferronnerie) and Audincourt (at Le Moloco) with his friends from Aerophon Crew who accepted the invitation from the festival GéNéRiQ.
